This code means that Office is trying to activate against a company KMS server and cannot find one. It plays the same role in Office as 0xC004F074 does in Windows.
Why it happens
- The installed edition and the key do not correspond. A volume-edition installation expects a volume key, and an installation made for a single PC expects a single-PC key. The two have to match.
- Leftovers from another Office are still installed and take over the activation.
- The system date and time are wrong.
How to fix it
1. Correct the date and time
In Settings > Time & language, turn on automatic time and check the time zone. Restart.
2. Check what your installation expects
Open Command Prompt as administrator, go to the Office folder (usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16) and run cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus. The result shows the license type the installation is looking for.
3. Reinstall from the installer in your order
If the installation does not match your key, uninstall Office from Settings > Apps > Installed apps, restart, and install again with the installer from your delivery email or the Download button on the product page. Then enter your key under File > Account > Change Product Key.
If none of this works
